Joining forces for children's rights

Cooperation and solidarity

Published 3 Diciembre 2024

For the first time, our campus was the scene of a special commemoration on November 20, as we joined UNICEF to celebrate World Children's Day , a day that puts children and adolescents at the center. During a UNICEF flag-raising ceremony, the commitment to the rights of children and adolescents was highlighted, within the framework of the 35th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

A call to global action
This meeting highlighted the challenges facing children today, from the impact of climate change to the inequalities affecting the most vulnerable children, including indigenous, refugee, migrant and disabled children. During the event, all generations were called upon to listen and act in favour of children.

Alma Tejada, Business Manager of the City of Knowledge Foundation, emphasized:
"We reaffirm our commitment to being a bridge between generations, promoting innovative and sustainable solutions to ensure a better future for them."

For her part, Sandie Blanchet, UNICEF Representative in Panama, highlighted:
"Only by ensuring that children are healthy, protected, educated and empowered will Panama be able to have a prosperous, democratic and sustainable future."

Celebration and reflection
World Children’s Day not only celebrates the progress made since the adoption of the CRC in 1989, but also invites us to reflect on the road ahead. Rapid global changes, from disruptive technology to humanitarian crises, present both challenges and opportunities to ensure the rights of children and adolescents.

On this occasion, UNICEF urged governments, companies, allies and families to “listen to the future” by promoting intergenerational dialogue to better respect and protect the rights of children everywhere in the world.

A renewed commitment from the City of Knowledge
As part of this alliance with UNICEF, Ciudad del Saber reaffirms its commitment to being a space where the rights of children and adolescents are a priority. From our campus, we continue working to build a world in which every child and adolescent has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

On this World Children's Day, we remember that ensuring a safe and habitable planet for future generations is not just a task, it is a duty we all share.
