Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
A. GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Under the overall supervision of the Immigration & Border Management (IBM) Division’s Immigration & Visa Support Solutions (IVSS) Unit, VAC Team Leader at and reporting directly to the Canadian Visa Application Centre Manager in Panama, the intern will provide administrative support and tasks will include:
· Provide service excellence to applicants at all times, in full compliance with the IOM VFS Global agreement, the IRCC Statement of Work (SOW) and the IRCC Service Standards.
· Assist in the provision of client information for UK Panama TEL and CVAC project
· Assist in the collection and forwarding of complete applications as per IRCC checklists, including biometrics collection.
· Data Capture
· Returning of passports, supporting documentation and visa decisions.
· Undertake all other duties as may be assigned.
B. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES)
· Students approaching the end of their university studies and preparing a thesis, or recently graduated in Business Management, Client Services, Social Science or any related field of study.
· Experience in social organizations, public sector or international organizations is desirable
· High-level computer literacy.
· Strong interpersonal & intercultural skills with an attention to detail
· Team player, Commitment, efficiency, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills.
· Fluency in Spanish and English is required and basic knowledge/understanding of French is advantageous.
