As part of the Ministry of Education's (MEDUCA) effort to strengthen the quality of education through teacher networks, education specialists from Harvard University's Project Zero, with funds managed through the City of Knowledge Foundation, are back in Panama to continue implementing the diploma program "Learning to Learn: Transforming Pedagogy Together." This innovative program seeks to consolidate teacher networks as learning communities among Panamanian educators, promoting collaboration and the development of inquiry-based pedagogical practices.

During their visit, the Harvard team, led by Project Zero specialists, will work closely with educational network leaders, supervisors, school administrators, and teachers from ten schools in the Panama metropolitan area. Through interactive sessions, classroom observations, and training workshops, participants will strengthen their ability to implement strategies that foster critical thinking and deep learning in their students.

The Ministry of Education supports the initiative, strengthening the Panamanian education system's commitment to continuous teaching improvement by strengthening teacher development strategies. This effort is supported by the City of Knowledge Foundation, which has provided the space for implementing the diploma and monitoring teachers' learning process. The program also includes staff from the Institute for Educator Development and Well-being (IPEBI AIP), who have been supporting the logistics of the implementation.

The diploma program, which began in 2024 and is projected to continue through 2025, has worked to consolidate teacher networks through inquiry-based thinking routines to generate transformative changes in the classroom. "Education is a continuous learning process, and this program has opened up new opportunities for our teachers to collaborate and become agents of change within their educational communities," said Jorge Arosemena, executive president of the City of Knowledge Foundation.

This initiative has been made possible thanks to the generous support of the Holzer Foundation , the Sus Buenos Vecinos Foundation , the Alberto Motta Foundation , the Faro Foundation , and other partners committed to strengthening education in Panama.

With this visit, Panama reaffirms its commitment to strengthening teacher training and implementing innovative educational strategies that contribute to improving the quality of education in the country.
