The City of Knowledge Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP), presented the Action Plan for the Creative Economy (Private Sector) of Panama.
The Plan is an organization proposal for action, which has counted on the contributions of more than 160 relevant actors of the creative economy: companies, non-profit organizations, unions and independent professionals from 6 large creative sectors: Music, Performing Arts, Cinema + animation, Visual arts, Fashion + related, and Communications (including Advertising and Graphic Design). The plan responds directly to needs considered as priorities for the sectors. This initiative has been possible thanks to the support of the Inter-American Development Bank – IDB. The incorporation of other creative sectors is expected in the coming months.
Jorge Arosemena, Executive President of the City of Knowledge Foundation, recalled that together with the Chamber, they have been working for many years to incorporate creative industries into the country's economy. "I want to emphasize that the creative economy has a great present and future since it points to that spiritual component that our new Panama needs so much, a much better country than the one we had at the beginning of the Pandemic."
For his part Walo Araújo, Leader of Strategic Projects at the City of Knowledge Foundation, “the Action Plan for the Creative Economy that we launched from the private sector joins efforts to solve common challenges and develop our creative economy in partnership with the National Government. The document proposes concrete actions and establishes which organizations lead each action or want to be part of them, as these commitments are confirmed. The document reflects a process that is alive and the actions of the plan are open to more allies joining in to mobilize wills and resources”.
