MiCultura and the City of Knowledge Foundation sign Cultural Cooperation Agreement

The Ministry of Culture and the City of Knowledge Foundation signed a Cultural Cooperation Agreement that will benefit the country's creative and cultural ventures with the development and implementation of a Cultural Information System that facilitates decision-making, as well as support in the formulation and evaluation of public policies on cultural issues with the participation of all the sectors involved.

As it was revealed, one of the products of the agreement will allow for the training of 1,200 entrepreneurs from creative industries with an emphasis on cultural heritage and digital culture, who are part of the process designed by Crea Project in Panama, recently launched together with UNESCO and the European Union.

The purpose of this agreement between both entities is to facilitate collaboration between the ministry and the City of Knowledge Foundation in order to work together in the areas of Information Technology, Communication, Cultural and Creative Industries, cultural ventures, training, consulting and project development, to support institutional plans that promote the creation of public policies in the field of culture, the promotion of cultural rights and the processes of sustainable human and local development that are part of the objective of both institutions.

In this regard, the Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro, explained that technical, scientific and cultural cooperation brings great advantages for the development of entities, with culture being an intrinsic manifestation of each human being that should be considered as a tool for growth and comprehensive enrichment of society.

"With the signing of the agreement we strengthen formal cooperation relationships, allowing the effective use of resources and establish a collaborative infrastructure to achieve growth goals aimed at national benefit and human development," said Navarro.

Jorge Arosemena, Executive President of the City of Knowledge Foundation, indicated that this agreement is of utmost importance to promote innovation processes in the cultural and creative industries that can become a source of employment generation in new sectors; promote international cooperation to strengthen cultural development; facilitate meeting spaces, resources and projects that promote and strengthen the entrepreneurship of the cultural and creative industries and promote cultural rights in ways that allow citizens to fulfill their just aspirations.

The research and development of cultural processes, including the cultural and creative industries, as well as the production, distribution, dissemination, preservation of goods and the Panamanian cultural heritage is one of the relevant points stated in this agreement.
