Habitat Games and City of Knowledge join forces to create SDG card game
Publicado 24 Noviembre 2020
With each passing day, humanity has it clear that to preserve our ecosystem it is very important to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). That is why City of Knowledge teamed up with Habitat Games, creators of the ECOPOLIS game, to create a card game about these Goals.
The game is ideal for testing people's knowledge of the SDGs and what is required to achieve them. Its purpose is to sensitize, educate and develop knowledge around the SDGs, while people have fun and learn while playing. In addition, it works as a catalyst for activities, events and teambuilding and awareness experiences.
Each of the Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations for the year 2030 contains specific Goals to ensure their fulfillment. The game contains 186 unique cards, to associate each Goal with its corresponding Objective. The game rules are simple and easy to learn, with four different modes for up to 8 players or teams, including solo mode.
Andrés Tarté, creator of the game and founder of Habitat Games, commented that “we have had the good fortune of having the authorization of the United Nations Department of Global Communication to use the official art of the SDGs, which is very recognized and even seems like a game. In fact, that's where the original idea came from, since I thought that the art is like a game waiting to be invented”.
The game itself was made in a conscious and responsible way. The material (paper and cardboard) is 99% recycled and the rules of the game are printed on the sides of the box, thus saving the printing of an instructional brochure. In addition, manufacturing is handled by a Certified Women-Owned Company in the US called Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).
The first edition of the game will be 1000 copies and will arrive in Panama in February 2021. The presale starts November 24 at: https://www.cuanto.app/playecopolis
