During the month of the Sustainable Development Goals, the City of Knowledge Foundation, the Autonomous University of Chiriquí (UNACHI) through its Vice-Rectory for Research and Postgraduate Studies and the National Foundation for the Conservation of Nature (ANCON), with the support ENESA and CIDES, carried out a series of talks called: "Conservation for a sustainable future", consisting of four sessions of information exchange on biodiversity, the environment and social change.
In the first discussion session "Conservation and management of biodiversity", we discussed biodiversity issues and their importance. In the second called "Health around the hydrographic basins", the analysis, monitoring and protection of the rivers in the country were discussed. The third discussion addressed the theme of "Social change for sustainable development", focusing on the three essential elements of the concept of sustainable development: environmental history, social organization and economic perspective.
For the fourth and final discussion session, which will take place on Thursday, August 6, the "Experiences in environmental education and sustainable management" will be discussed. The intention is to leave a small contribution of what different institutions, foundations, academia, companies and civil society are trying to achieve in principles of environmental education and sustainable management to achieve "Conservation for a sustainable future".
The conversation cycle aimed to engage the government, the private sector, civil society and citizens alike, to ensure that we will leave a better planet for future generations.
