Forty-Sixth Math Webinar in English

The Panamanian Foundation for the Promotion of Mathematics (FUNDAPROMAT) and the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) welcome you to join our Forty-Sixth Math Webinar in English, which will take place on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025 at 5 pm Panama time, 6 pm EDT. This Webinar is free and open to the general public, which means that kids and adults of all ages are welcome to attend. 

In this Math Webinar in English, our invited speaker Lauren Rose, Associate Professor of Mathematics at Bard College, will be presenting on "EvenQuads: A SET-like Game with a Twist". EvenQuads is a card game similar to SET, with 81 cards, each containing 1-4 objects in one of 4 colors and one of 4 shapes. The goal of the game is to find “quads”, which are sets of 4 cards that satisfy a particular pattern. After learning how to play the game, we will show how this card deck can be used as a gateway to mathematical exploration and discovery. Participants are encouraged to print out this file prior to the presentation: template.
