Forty-Seventh Math Webinar in English

The Panamanian Foundation for the Promotion of Mathematics (FUNDAPROMAT) and the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) welcome you to join our Forty-Seventh Math Webinar in English, which will take place on Wednesday, May 7th, 2025 at 5 pm Panama time, 6 pm EDT. This Webinar is free and open to the general public, which means that kids and adults of all ages are welcome to attend. 

In this Math Webinar in English, our invited speaker Peter Arvanites, Professor of Mathematics at Rockland Community College, will be presenting on "Taking a Closer Look at Math Anxiety". Since the 1950’s, the effects of math anxiety on student learning have been studied and analyzed. In this webinar, we will discuss how research has evolved over the years, leading to more effective ways for students and teachers to deal with math anxiety. Strategies to minimize and even eliminate the anxiety will also be shared.
