Webinar on The Mathematics of vZome

The Panamanian Foundation for the Promotion of Mathematics (FUNDAPROMAT) and the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) welcome you to join our Math Webinar in English #52, which will take place on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025 at 5 pm Panama time, 6 pm EDT. This Webinar is free and open to the general public, which means that kids and adults of all ages are welcome to attend. 

In this Math Webinar in English, our invited speaker Scott Vorthmann, author of vZome and retired Enterprise Software Architect, will be presenting on "The Mathematics of vZome." vZome is a software design tool for Zometool models. Both vZome and Zometool have unparalleled support for building shapes related to the dodecahedron and icosahedron, since the symmetry of those objects is inherent in the construction system. In this webinar, the speaker will illustrate how to construct the five Platonic solids in vZome, as well as some Archimedean solids. We will also explore the powerful symmetry capabilities of vZome, and learn some interesting facts about symmetry itself.
