UNOPS launches online recruitment and roster system

As an operational arm of the United Nations, UNOPS, whose regional headquarters are located at the City of Knowledge, helps its partner’s implement more than $1 billion worth of aid and development projects every year, often in challenging environments.

The Global Personnel Recruitment System (GPRS) was built by UNOPS to streamline all recruitment, as well as to create a pool of experts to support our operations in over 80 countries. UNOPS is using the system to identify talented individuals in all areas of project support and implementation, with a particular focus on project management, finance, procurement and HR roles.

The GPRS has been designed to simplify and speed up the application process, allowing applicants to create and save a personal profile and use this to apply to multiple positions. Users can then monitor the status of their applications by logging into their account.

Candidates can now use the system to apply for current UNOPS vacancies or to register for the roster – in order to be considered for upcoming positions.

UNOPS Deputy Executive Director Vitaly Vanshelboim said: “The GPRS, combined with new and revised recruitment policies, is a major asset for UNOPS and our partners. By ensuring we recruit skilled personnel in a transparent, efficient and speedy manner it will have a real impact on our ability to deliver results that matter to people in need.”

When UNOPS needs to recruit, hiring managers will use the roster to identify qualified applicants who will be personally invited to confirm their availability and interest. This will provide an opportunity for applicants to submit a specific cover letter, or update their personal profile with any further qualifications or skills. UNOPS may also choose to advertise a particular position publicly in the vacancies section of the GPRS.

Job seekers can also search the GPRS for vacancies, or to see the types of job profile included in the roster, without first having to create an account.
