The City of Knowledge Foundation and FundAyuda conducted a preventive health day
Last October 11, at the City of Knowledge Convention Center, a day of preventive health was held commemorating Pink Ribbon month. The same was organized by the City of Knowledge Foundation (FCDS) and FundAyuda, with the collaboration of the Social Security Fund and the Ministry of Health.
Starting at 8:00 a.m. the doors opened to the public so they could approach the various information tables and stalls for preventive examination, laboratory and vaccination. At 10:30 a.m. doctors Isis and Marta Correa spoke about Oral Health, Dr. Jorge Lasso de la Vega spoke about breast cancer, and Dr. Rubén Ureña gave a lecture on Prostate Cancer.
Professor Jorge Arosemena, Executive Director of the City of Knowledge Foundation (FCDS), welcomed everybody to the event. Then Mr. Alfredo l. Maduro said a few words on behalf of FundAyuda and delivered a plaque of appreciation to Prof. Arosemena, representing FCDS, for supporting the Pink Ribbon campaign. Finally, Dr. José Kaled, deputy director of Promotion and Prevention of Family Medicine and Community Action of the CSS, thanked FundAyuda and FCDS for organizing the event and stressed the support of the CSS to these activities.
During the day, 178 doses of vaccines against tetanus, measles, pneumococcal and influenza were applied. In addition, there were 86 measurements of weight and height (measurement of waist circumference), 160 blood pressure measurements and 150 for blood glucose, 54 Prostate-Specific Antigen tests (PSA) and 54 tests of audiometry. Besides, there was a remarkable participation in the lectures given by the experts.
The event also featured the presence of young writer Valeria Guevara Maduro, who signed copies of her book ESENTIA: to live. Donations from the sale of the book are given entirely to FundAyuda programs.
