South African delegation visits the City of Knowledge
A delegation of directives and managers from various institutions in South Africa visited the City of Knowledge with the purpose of developing a relationship for the exchange of ideas on innovation and business incubators.
The approach to the City of Knowledge grew from the international interest in searching for training, innovation and entrepreneurship programs, and adapt the knowledge gained to their own projects. Both the City of Knowledge and the Don Alberto Motta Business Accelerator (AEP) have attracted international interest in various fields making institutions in similar projects want to adapt their model of success.
The delegation was composed of directors of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolis (NMBM), the Seda Nelson Mandela bay ICT Incubator (SNMBICTI), the Eastern Cape IT Initiative (ECITI), the eMonti Science & Technology Park (eSTP), and by Mr. Tembisa Gwintsa, Chairman of the SNMBICTI Board, member of the ECITI Board, besides being responsible for the eMonti Science & Technology Park.
Professor Jorge Arosemena, Executive Director of the Foundation, dictated a presentation that highlighted the history of a military base that was converted into a global center for knowledge. The delegation also participated in a tour of the campus and the City of Knowledge Business Accelerator (AEP), where they met with entrepreneurs who presented their company projects, which are carried out through the AEP. They were also provided with a detailed explanation of support services to entrepreneurs, venture capital, globalization and business incubation in the AEP.
Their two-day agenda included a meeting with executives of CAPATEC, SENACYT, with the Director of the International Technopark of Panama, Ricardo Endara, and the Academic Director of the City of Knowledge Foundation, Guillermo Castro, in order to develop a relationship of mutual interest through conversation and ideas exchange.
