Signing of the Agreement between City of Knowledge Foundation and Panama Jazz Festival Inc.

This Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011, marked the date for the signing of the cooperation agreement between the City of Knowledge Foundation and Panama Jazz Festival Inc. (PJF), company founded by recognized national artist Danilo Pérez.  As a result of this agreement PJF will have its headquarters at the City of Knowledge where they will organize the Panama Jazz Festival.

Panama Jazz Festival Inc. will conduct educational activities and concerts at the City of Knowledge’s Ateneo, establishing a new phase of educational and cultural programs focused on the importance of Panama in the historic development of jazz, the relationship between music and nature, and music as seen through an interdisciplinary lens.

Panama Jazz Festival Inc. was created in 2003 with the first International Jazz Festival of Panama. Today the Panama Jazz Festival is the biggest cultural event of the region attracting more than 120,000 people, between Panamanians and foreigners, and contributing with more than a million dollars in musical scholarships to Panamanian and international students.  PJF is recognized as one of the most innovative cultural companies in Latin America.

The City of Knowledge Foundation and Panama Jazz Festival Inc. get together with the objective of promoting education, research, cultural development and innovation through relevant cultural events directed at people of all ages.
