PECA: Methodology for the Selection of Commercial Software Conference at the AEP
According to international studies, the acquisition of business related information systems costs up to 1.5 to 4 times the estimated amount. This is due, principally, to the lack of knowledge of good practices, starting by defining the objectives, or appointing the process to individuals with no decision power inside the organization. Our country doesn’t escape this reality and therefore it is necessary to learn a mechanism that reduces mistakes at the time of acquiring software, which is vital to the functioning and success of a business.
With the objective of presenting one of the most popular methodologies for software selection, the conference “Integral Methodology for the Selection of Commercial Software” was presented last Wednesday, September 21, at the City of Knowledge Business Accelerator by Engineer Lorna Sánchez as part of the Information Technology Actualization conference cycle co-organized by Alcenit Corporation. The event counted with the participation of members of the Entrepreneur Network and representatives of private companies interested in optimizing the acquisition process of computer science solutions.
PECA is the methodology for the selection of software used by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie Mellon University along with the National Research Council of Canada, which defines an evaluation process that can help companies make the right decision when buying services or technology products, including commercial software.
