OEI, INADEH and NILE sign memorandum of understanding

On June 25, 2012, José Pablo Ramos, Director General of the National Institute of Vocational Training for Human Development (INADEH), Melissa Wong Sagel, Resident Director of the Organization of Ibero-American States for the Education, Science and Culture (OEI), based at the City of Knowledge, and Dr. Choi Un Shil, President of the National Institute for Lifelong Education of Korea (NILE), signed an understanding agreement.

As part of the 21st Ibero-American Conference of Ministers of Education, held in Asunción on September 26, 2011, the OEI signed an agreement with NILE, which aimed to establish mechanisms for collaboration between the two organizations and exchange experiences in education, vocational training, lifelong learning, and the Academic Bank’s credit System (educational system that recognizes different types of learning experiences acquired). This time the National Institute of Vocational Training for Human Development (INADEH) joined the strategic alliance, for the identification, implementation and execution of joint projects.

By signing this agreement INADEH, OEI AND NILE aim to join efforts for the implementation of activities that contribute to the education of young people and adults belonging to the economically and educationally disadvantaged.

The activity «Regional Perspectives on Lifelong Learning», featured keynote presentations by Dr. Choi Un Shil who spoke about «Learning throughout life: The experience of Korea» and Luis Scasso, Director General for Cooperation and Lifelong Education of the OEI, who spoke about «Innovations in the education of youth and adults in Latin America.»

The event was held at the Marina Room of the Intercontinental Miramar Hotel and was attended by Vice-Ministers of state, ambassadors and other personalities from the Panamanian education field.
