NCA Juvenile Musical Camp Orchestra at the Ateneo
Last Friday, July 8th, the National Concert Association (NCA) presented its Juvenile Musical Camp Orchestra inside the Ateneo at the City of Knowledge.
The concert started with the Wind Quintet “Contradanzas”, made up of ex campers from the NCA, who executed with great security pieces like: Magic Horn by M. Kamen, A Song from Japan (arrangement by S. Verhelst) and Amazing Grace by J. Newton.
The second part of the concert consisted of the 2011 NCA Juvenile Musical Camp Orchestra, under the direction of Professor Jorge Oliva. 54 talented musicians, between the ages of 12 to 25, make up this wonderful Orchestra that played classic music by Beethoven, Bizet and Panamanian Eduardo Charpentier De Castro, as well as popular music such as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Artificial Intelligence and The Patriot by J. Williams.
A numerous audience attended the concert and enjoyed the excellent execution of such virtuous young men. Such was the emotion at the end of the concert that everybody in the crowd stood up asking for more music. The Director of the Orchestra presented a Dominican piece, a joyful “symphonic merengue”, that enchanted an audience who was mesmerized by the talent of these young artists.
