Melissa de León, an example entrepreneur
In 2008 Melissa de León was going through a very tough divorce when she was forced to meditate about her life priorities. It was then when by accident some flour samples “without gluten” from the company Sunny Mills of Panama came to her hands. Inspired, she started to develop energy bars, nutritional cookies, cakes, buns and pastas that she sells in various Panama City spots.
As a participant of the “Plan de Salto” project of the Panama Business Accelerator, Melissa could implement her own business model which is based in the creation of a Plant that produces “healthy products, without gluten, consisting of tropical tuber flours made in Panama”. Such products lack wheat, dairy or refined sugar and are special for athletes, people who are looking to lose weight, people that have diseases or that are intolerant to gluten and above all people that want to have a healthy diet.
The Business Accelerator at the City of Knowledge has made it possible for Melissa to improve her business model and therefore have the opportunity to get investors interested in her products.
