LEED Buildings at the City of Knowledge
The City of Knowledge Foundation is building a commercial plaza and new dormitories, within its campus, with the objective of obtaining the LEED certification.
The new edifications, which are currently being constructed, have already presented the design credits to the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), which manages the Building Certification and the Professional Accreditation Processes. The next step will be to finish the construction, which is schedule for the end of December, or the beginning of January 2012.
Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies intended to improve performance in metrics such as energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
This is without a doubt a very important step in the City of Knowledge Sustainability Policy that aims to make it the first Sustainable City in Panama.
