Forum: Innovation promotion for improving competitiveness
The National Competitiveness Center, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the City of Knowledge Foundation and the National Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation (SENACYT), came together to organize the Forum: “Innovation promotion for improving competitiveness”, held at the City of Knowledge Convention Center.
The objective of this activity was the promotion of innovation techniques and concepts for improving competitiveness of companies and projects, and therefore contribute to the ecosystem of innovative entrepreneurship through presentation and discussion of experiences and perspectives on the topic.
The event began with the participation of Dr. Nicolas Ardito Barletta, Director of the National Competitiveness Center, who spoke about the growth and competitiveness of Panama. In turn, Dr. Pedro Saenz and Dr. Nobuyuki Otsuka, IDB senior specialists, Dr. Zoltan Acs and Manuel Lorenzo, Director of the City of Knowledge Business Accelerator, also spoke at the event.
The Forum consisted of panels of local businessmen and transnational corporations, which addressed issues related to innovation in Panama and the contributions to innovation from transnational corporations established in Panama. It also included presentations by Dr. Ruben Berrocal, National Secretary of SENACYT, and Dr. Don Ratliff, Director of Georgia Tech Panama, among others. The activity counted with keynote speaker Professor Jeff Amerine, of the University of Arkansas, who made important contributions on business innovation.
The event; attended by Ministers of State, representatives of universities and trade associations, among others; sought to convey the experiences of national and international experts on innovation, in order to motivate and promote the development of highly competitive enterprises and ventures with high levels of innovation in our country.
