First stone placement of the PRISM at the City of Knowledge
On Wednesday, October 12, the ceremony of the placement of the first stone initiated the “Panama Research Institute of Science and Medicine” (PRISM) project, a complex of four buildings that will be located at the City of Knowledge.
The PRISM, which consists of four Panamanian Institutions, will be an incubator of new biotechnology products and will promote the transfer of technologies to productive areas. Having an infrastructure with international standards will attract pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies that will want to establish themselves at the City of Knowledge and this will generate new jobs. Besides, national and international researches will be able to come to Panama and do science in these new installations.
It is estimated that in June 2013, the Installations of the National Secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation (SENACYT), the Institute of Scientific Research and High Technology Services (INDICASAT AIP), the experimental biomedic station of the Gorgas Commemorative Institute of Health Studies (ICGES) and the National Center of Metrology of Panama (CENAMEP-AIP), will be ready.
