City of Knowledge at the Innovation Capacity Building Seminar
Engineer Ricardo Endara, Director of the International Technopark of the City of Knowledge, was an invited speaker at the workshop: Innovation Capacity Building, organized by the ENLACE project in Antigua, Guatemala, on May 30 and 31, 2012.
ENLACE (Enhancing Scientific Cooperation between the European Union and Central America) is funded by the European Union (EU) under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for Research and Technological Development.
The ENLACE project aims to support bi-regional dialogue between the EU and countries of Central America and includes a series of activities to establish a network among researchers in their respective countries through dialogues on S&T and identification of mutual interest priorities for research, thus increasing knowledge on FP7 in Central America and creating a network of FP7 National Contact Points in the region.
The consortium includes 14 partners with different specialties, 6 of the EU and 8 of Central America, regrouping multiple international actors (research centers, industry, public sector and civil society), to ensure compliance with the objectives of ENLACE.
The seminar, attended by the City of Knowledge Foundation, aimed to identify and prioritize common research areas of mutual interest and benefit, establish a network of FP7 Contact Points in Central America, promote public-private partnership and strengthen private sector participation in innovation and knowledge transfer activities, increase awareness of the benefits of EU – CA for stakeholders (researchers, policy makers and businessmen) in the region, and promote the participation of Central American researchers and research projects funded by the FP7 of the European Union.
