XIV National Congress on Science and Technology

From the 17th to the 20th of October 2012, the XIV National Congress on Science and Technology, organized by APANAC, will take place at the City of Knowledge Convention Center.
The Congress on Science and Technology, organized by APANAC, is the main space to exhibit the progress and results of scientific investigations nationwide.
During the opening session on October 17, which starts at 8:30 a.m., the keynote speaker will be Dr. Lee Yuan, winner of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1986, for his contribution to the study of the dynamics of chemical elementary processes. In addition, the APANAC Award 2012 will be handed to a distinguished member of the scientific community in Panama.
The distinguished sociologist Manuel Castells, one of the leading researchers of our time, will also speak during the Congress. Mr. Castells is a well-known researcher on the effect that new communication technologies have had on our society and cities.
Also, Dr. Eric Green will give a plenary lecture. Dr. Green is the Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) of the NIH in the U.S., and has a leadership position in the effort to sequence, map and understand eukaryotic genomes, including a role in the Human Genome Project.
