Roberto Perera at the Ateneo
Hasta: Septiembre 14, 2011 - 9:30 pm
The famous Uruguayan musician, considered a pioneer in the electro-acoustic harp, will be presenting his show, with his band, next Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at 8:00 p.m. at the Ateneo inside the City of Knowledge.
Roberto started playing the Paraguayan harp in 1964 when, at the age of twelve, he enrolled in the Modern Music Conservatory in Montevideo, Uruguay. His multicultural beginnings played an important part in his decision to embrace the 36 string Paraguayan harp and mix it with Pop, Jazz, Brazilian music and afro-Cuban influences. His music consists in improvising rhythms and creating a unique mixture.
In 1994 he was awarded Billboard’s Best Contemporary Latin Jazz Album of the Year and in 2003 he was nominated for a Latin Grammy. Besides, he has shared the stage with artists such as Spyro Gyra, Yellow Jackets and Tito Puente, as well as recorded with Paquito de Rivera and Raúl Di Blasio.
