Plan International Because I am a Girl Campaign Launch
Hasta: Octubre 11, 2012 - 1:00 pm
In commemoration of the first International Day of the Girl, Plan International invites you to the launch of its global campaign «Because I am a Girl» and 1st Photo competition and exhibition, on Thursday, October 11, 10:00 a.m. at the Koala entrance in Albrook Mall.
The «Because I am a Girl» campaign aims to increase the number of girls receiving quality education in countries where they are more vulnerable and excluded, and seeks to reduce the barriers that prevent girls to receive this education. Plan believes that girls who receive an education are girls who have the power to transform their own lives and the lives of those around them.
Girls face many obstacles to fully develop their potential in their lives. In Latin America, teen pregnancy and gender-based violence are two of the biggest obstacles, coupled with deficiency in health and nutrition, lack of early education, the burden of housework and care for other boys and girls, and economic insecurity at home.
This lack of opportunity and care is unfair, and it is this discrimination against girls and women a major cause of poverty.
