On Thursday, April 6, the National Association of Concerts (ANC) held a press conference at the Hotel Bristol, to inaugurate the International Concert Season 2017. The conference titled "Classical Music inspires and transcends" was attended by the President of the Association, Mr. Rafael Moscarella, the Director of the Association, Mr. Terry Ford, Professor Jorge Arosemena, Executive President of the City of Knowledge Foundation, and Mr. Victor Concepcion, Operations Director of the Hotel Bristol.

This year, with the aim of spreading classical music to a wider public in our country, the National Association of Concerts for the first time, thanks to the support of the donor community and sponsors, opens the doors for free of the International Concert Season to the public lover of the musical art, gathering throughout the year great interpreters of music in Panama, who will be the ones in charge to delight the whole audience with a repertoire of great masterpieces.

The concert season will begin with pianist Ming Xie from China, on Monday, April 24 at the City of Knowledge Athenaeum. The next concert will be conducted by organist James David Christie of the Oberlin Conservatory, USA, and will be held on Tuesday, June 20 at La Merced Church in Casco Antiguo.

On Thursday, July 20, the Duo Brothers Del Valle playing piano and Ana Valderrama playing the violin will perform at the Athenaeum. On Thursday, August 31, at the Athenaeum as well, the group Oberlin Assemblage of the United States will be performing the flute, bassoon and piano, and on Thursday, October 5, the group Siberian Virtuosi of Russia, will give a performance of 12 violins.

Thanks to the support of the City of Knowledge, the majority of the concerts of the 2017 Season will be taking place at the Athenaeum.

For the National Association of Concerts, its main goal year after year is to contribute to the growth and social development of youth through education and musical appreciation, attracting young musicians to live a different and unique experience. For this reason, thanks to the great efforts of our donors, this year the ANC Board of Directors has decided to offer open concerts so that a greater number of citizens can benefit from these cultural spaces.
